For National Mentoring Month (January), we shared a few stats from MENTOR Maryland that highlight the impact of mentoring on youth across the nation:

We know that wonderful things happen when our community comes together for the betterment of our youth and their futures. Over the last six years, we have made a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of youth, thanks to support from individuals and organizations who care about our mission to enlighten the minds of male youth. Through mentorship, we can change the narrative for Baltimore families experiencing hardships and raising sons in single-parent homes.

This year we have accepted 30 students into our Leadership Academy who will have mentorship and activities that develop their leadership skills throughout the year. It is important to note that our programs also reach youth not enrolled in our Leadership Academy cohort.

In honor of our sixth anniversary as an organization, we have pulled together a list of six ways you, too, can play a role in this crucial project to make Baltimore better.

1. Support I AM MENtality’s Community Investment Work Program

We recently partnered with Sophomore Coffee to make our own I AM MENtality blend coffee. Our youth leaders learned from local entrepreneurs how to make the coffee and package it for consumers. Within just a few weeks we have sold out of the I AM MENtality coffee, but you can still support our Community Investment Work Program that focuses on teaching youth about work ethic and financial literacy here

2. Share I AM MENtality News On Social Media

Stories about violence and trauma make the headlines every day, but our strides towards empowering our youth and their families are not always seen. To help further our reach and impact in Baltimore and beyond, please be sure to join our community on social media and share updates about I AM MENtality leadership development with your followers. We are on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and we recently joined Twitter

If I AM MENtality has impacted your life directly, please record a video that tells others about your experience. Don’t forget to tag us in your post to share it on our page.

3. Support Our Anniversary Fundraiser Gala

In celebration of I AM MENtality’s 6th anniversary, we will host our annual gala at the Baltimore War Memorial on March 26, 2022. This year’s theme is Better 4 Baltimore. Come out and enjoy a night of food, drinks and raffles with amazing people in our community who believe in supporting Baltimore’s male youth.
